The scriptures and the prophets have given repeated warnings that destructive events may occur in our lifetime. Only preparation, both spiritual and temporal, can dispel the fear of these disasters. Personal and family preparedness is the responsibility of the individual and the family. The counsel of the prophets to obtain a supply of food, water, and other essentials, and to become as self-sufficient as possible, is inspired.
